Our Mission
The Heart Of What We Do
At Haywards Farm School, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. We are proud of the environment we have created and the difference we make to the lives of our pupils, their families and the wider community.
Our dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants and therapists takes a truly holistic approach, getting to know each child as an individual and building their education around who they are. Underpinned by our core values of safety, belonging and aspiration, we give every pupil the foundations they need to grow in confidence, build meaningful relationships and thrive.

An Integrated Therapeutic Approach
At Haywards Farm School, therapy is woven throughout every aspect of school life. Our integrated therapeutic model brings together specialist support from Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Play Therapists, and education professionals to provide a holistic approach that meets the needs of the whole child.
By working collaboratively, our therapeutic and educational teams support students to develop the communication, emotional regulation, sensory processing, social, and independence skills they need to succeed. Therapeutic strategies are embedded into daily practice, enabling students to build the knowledge, confidence, and resilience required to access learning, develop positive relationships, and engage successfully within both the school environment and the wider community.
Through this joined-up approach, we ensure that every student receives personalised support that promotes wellbeing, removes barriers to learning, and helps them achieve positive outcomes for life.
A Holistic Approach to Personal Development
At Haywards Farm School, Personal Development is embedded throughout every aspect of school life. We recognise that success is measured not only by academic achievement but also by a student’s ability to understand themselves, build positive relationships, and engage confidently with the world around them.
Using a Thrive-informed approach, our Personal Development curriculum supports students to develop emotional resilience, self-awareness, self-regulation, communication, confidence, and independence. Through a combination of therapeutic support, outdoor learning, enrichment opportunities, community experiences, and real-life learning, students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to prepare for adulthood.
By placing wellbeing at the centre of learning, we help students to become active members of their communities, make informed choices, develop a sense of belonging, and achieve positive outcomes that will support them throughout their lives.
Relationships at the Heart of Learning
At Haywards Farm School, we understand that positive relationships form the foundation for learning, growth, and wellbeing. Many of our students have experienced barriers to education, and we recognise that meaningful progress begins with feeling safe, understood, and valued.
Our nurturing environment prioritises the development of strong, trusting relationships between students and staff. Through consistency, empathy, and a deep understanding of each child’s individual needs, we create a culture where students feel secure enough to take risks, explore new experiences, and develop confidence in themselves and others.
These relationships enable us to understand each student as an individual, celebrate their strengths, and provide the personalised support they need to thrive. By fostering a sense of belonging and connection, we empower students to engage in learning, build resilience, develop social skills, and achieve success both within school and beyond.
Working Together Every Day
At Haywards Farm School, we believe that the best outcomes are achieved when everyone works together. Our teachers, therapists, support staff, families, and external professionals work collaboratively every day to ensure that each student receives the highest quality support tailored to their individual needs.
This integrated approach is underpinned by daily communication, regular handovers, and the sharing of key information between staff and professionals. By working closely together, we develop a shared understanding of each student’s strengths, needs, and aspirations, enabling us to respond quickly and effectively to provide the right support at the right time.
Through strong partnerships with families and carers, we ensure that support is consistent across home and school, helping students to improve their wellbeing, achieve positive life outcomes, develop independence, and experience the highest possible quality of life throughout their educational journey.
What Makes Us Different
We provide opportunities for learning and a broad, enriching curriculum with the intention of regaining a love for learning. We continuously build our pupils’ confidence, ensuring they leave our school with the confidence to thrive on their next educational pathway, as well as be independent young people.
We pride ourselves on knowing our children well and building trusting relationships for future foundations in our school community and beyond.
We encourage all our pupils to make the right choices through informed decisions, positive role-modelled support and through an enriching curriculum, supporting them to become resilient, happy, respectful, kind, explorative and inspired individuals.
We are a caring, nurturing school, and we take our responsibility of caring for our children very seriously.
We are committed to making their time and experiences with us as positive and fulfilling as possible.
